The dream I am chasing
A sustainable world is one in which human needs are met equitably without harm to the environment, and without sacrificing the benefits of future generations.
I am on the way seeking for applicable alternative energy sources and help to achieve the ultimate goal of sustainable energy supply.
The projects I participated mainly focused on trying to upgrade techniques and develop novel processes. Those projects include lignocellulosic ethanol, algae biodiesel, and metabolic engineering based biochemicals fermentation, etc.

In fact, sustainability is more than just "technology", it is a comprehensive consideration of economy, environment and society.
To be a viable alternative, a renewable energy should technically provide a net energy gain, be economically competitive, have proven environmental benefits, and be producible in large supplies. And, more importantly, it should be accepted by the general public. As scientist/engineer, our job is not just stay in the lab reading/writing scientific papers, but also deliver the message that "it is cleaner than traditional energies, it is greener to our life, it will better for the next generation, and can be affordable." |
